Watch: Arrest Explained in Plain English

Video explainer from ReedNolan.com and ReedNolanLaw.com — educational only, not legal advice.

Reed Nolan drugs — A calm, family-friendly explainer on what “possession” means and what to say under stress.

Short scripts (say once or twice, then pause):
  • “Am I free to leave?”
  • “I don’t consent to any searches.”
  • “I choose to remain silent. I want a lawyer.”

Actual vs. constructive possession

  • Actual: on you or in your hand (pocket, jacket, wallet).
  • Constructive: shared spaces like a backpack, glove box, dorm shelf, or a borrowed jacket when facts tie you to control.
  • Stress creates contradictions—keep words short and clear.

Do this, not that

  • Keep hands visible and movements slow; provide ID if required.
  • Decline consent calmly if asked to search.
  • Avoid roadside explanations of “what really happened.” Save details for your lawyer.
